Location: Addice Park Wanaque, NJ
Date: April 28th, 2013 12:00PM
Olympians & Hurricanes are sitting on top of the standings and look to take the first place with a win over their opponent.
As the time came closer for kick off, both teams were ready for a battle. Whichever team goes home with a win will stay as the leader of the standings for the upcoming week(s). Wanaque has been a threat as always, so Olympians where well aware of their tactics and their abilities.
West Morris began the game without their starting goalkeeper who has been huge part of the defense. Erin of West Morris took the incentive to stand in goal and did an amazing job and was quite the trooper. After couple mistakes on defense Hurricanes were able to sneak in two goals, which gave them a large lead before half time.
As second half approached Olympians where playing with no substitutes because of an injury. The heat was one of the issues ladies had to obey and concentrate on the game more and more. After another breakthrough on defense Wanaque scored off a cross, which gave Hurricanes 3-0 lead. Only 10minutes were left in the game, and the chances of winning at that point were very slim, although the girls did not give up. Madi of West Morris was able to dribble through the defense and take a shot placing the ball in the corner of the goal, two minutes later Blanca with a strong pass down the middle of the field connected with Madi which led to another fantastic goal, at that point everyone was on their feet and cheering very loud. Great shots were taken at the end of the match, however Olympians were unfortunate to score to tie the game.
This was a truly breathtaking game, especially in the last15 minutes of the game, Wanaque with a victory guarantees a first spot in the standings, and the Olympians stay at second with a record of 2-0-2.
